Prof W. Brian Whalley

BSc (Leicester), PhD (Cantab), FRGS, FGS, NTF

I'm a geomorphologist specialising in glacial geomorphology and weathering. The glacial investigations are mainly in Norway (ice caps) and Iceland (rock glaciers). Weathering studies relate to both cold climate weathering and building stone decay and durability. Associated research is on the structure of rock cracks and pores and their characterisation.I am on the Editorial Board of the international journal 'Geomorphology' and I am Editor of the international electronic journal Glacial Geology and Geomorphology, published by the British Society for Geomorphology.

My teaching interests are in geomorphology and the use of the World Wide Web in resource provision as well as the development of skills in modules. I am currently Director of Education for Geography. I was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in 2008.
